Cranstons Helps Fund Hospice Care for Local Families

26th March 2025

At Cranstons, we believe in giving back to the community that supports us, and we’re proud to have recently donated £3,252 to Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland. We met with the Hospice at Home team at our Brampton Food Hall last week to present the donation, which combines a share of our annual profits with money raised through our festive fundraising efforts. Thanks to the generosity of our customers and staff, we were able to raise funds through Christmas collection days, staff fundraising, and donations from our Christmas pudding sales.

This donation will go directly to supporting families across Cumbria and North Lakeland, ensuring that those facing life-limiting illnesses receive the care and support they need in the place they feel most comfortable — at home. Hearing first-hand from the team about the impact of their work reinforces just how important donations like these are.

Hospice at Home provides essential care for people with life-limiting illnesses, helping them remain in the comfort of their own homes while receiving expert support. As 86% of the charity’s funds are raised through donations, fundraising efforts play a crucial role in ensuring that the charity can continue offering its compassionate services.

Kylie Palmer, Corporate Fundraiser for Hospice at Home, said: “We are extremely grateful for the continued support from local businesses like Cranstons. Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland believe that everyone deserves choice, dignity, compassion and comfort when faced with a life-limiting illness. The vital support we provide would not be possible without the incredible commitment of our community. Without them, we simply wouldn’t be here doing what we do. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Cranstons, their dedicated workforce, and their loyal customers. Together, we can ensure that Hospice at Home continues to be available whenever it is needed.”

As a business with deep roots in the local community, we’re committed to supporting causes that matter. Hospice at Home is one of our four charity partners, alongside Tynedale Hospice at Home, Carlisle Youth Zone, and the Great North Air Ambulance. Throughout the decades, we have raised funds, provided raffle prizes, and hosted charity collections at our food halls and butchers’ shops, helping to support the work of these incredible organisations.

Jane Silburn, our Business Development Director, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to our customers and team for getting behind our fundraising efforts. Hospice at Home does such important work, and we know how much their support means to families in our region. It’s a privilege to be able to contribute, and we’re pleased to give something back to a charity that makes such a difference in people’s lives.”

We’re looking forward to another year of fundraising and community support. A huge thank you to our customers—your generosity helps make donations like this possible.
