Cafe Oswald Team Leader

Are you an experienced Front of House individual looking for your next challenge? We’re looking for a Front of House Team Leader to join our café team and support the Café Manager and Assistant Manager with the smooth running of our daily operations.

You’ll support your colleagues, help maintain high standards of customer service and develop your confidence in coordinating the day-to-day running of the café. Working closely with the management team, you’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills, take on additional responsibilities and grow within your role.

• Hours: Shifts between 7:30am and 5:00pm, including weekend working.
• Reporting to: Café Manager / Assistant Manager.

• Support the Café Manager and Assistant Manager with the day-to-day running of the café, stepping in to support the team in their absence when required.
• Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service and helping the team maintain agreed service standards.
• Confidently carry out all Café Assistant duties, including meet and greet, table ordering, resetting tables, food running, making drinks and covering staff breaks.
• Take responsibility for opening and closing the café, ensuring all relevant procedures are followed.
• Respond to customer complaints professionally, resolving issues where appropriate and escalating concerns to the management team when required.
• Help organise daily tasks across the front of house team, ensuring work is completed thoroughly and within the expected timescales.
• Support the training and development of new team members, helping colleagues build their confidence and skills.
• Complete daily front of house stock ordering when required, maintaining appropriate stock levels and communicating any stock or produce issues to management.
• Take responsibility for cashing up at the end of the day, ensuring procedures are followed accurately.
• Communicate effectively with the management team regarding customer feedback, operational issues and employee concerns.
• Support colleagues with positive and constructive conversations, seeking guidance from the management team when required.
• Work with the management team to introduce new training, processes and efficiencies, ensuring agreed guidelines are followed.

• Previous experience working as a Café Assistant or in a similar hospitality or customer service role.
• Enthusiasm for taking the next step in your career and developing your confidence in supporting a team.
• A friendly and approachable manner, with a commitment to delivering a high standard of customer service.
• The ability to work well with colleagues, provide support and help maintain a positive working environment.
• Good communication skills, with the confidence to share feedback and raise concerns with the management team.
• The ability to respond to customer complaints and challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
• Attention to detail and a responsible approach to cash handling, stock management and daily procedures.
• A willingness to learn, support new team members and develop your skills through training and hands-on experience.
• The ability to work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality when dealing with employee or business matters.
• Flexibility to work shifts between 7:30am and 5:00pm, including weekends.
