Cranstons and Carlisle Youth Zone – supporting young people in our community

Recently, our Carlisle Assistant Manager, Ian Haworth, presented a cheque for £2,000 to representatives from Carlisle Youth Zone – one of the four local charities we proudly support through our Community Fund.

We were delighted to welcome Mónica Ramírez López (Supporter Engagement Lead) and Hannah Davies (Corporate Partnerships Manager) to our Carlisle Food Hall, where they shared more about the incredible work CYZ continues to do for young people across the city.

Carlisle Youth Zone provides a safe, inspiring and inclusive space for children and teenagers to socialise, learn new skills and build confidence. With activities ranging from sports, music and creative arts to mentoring and youth support programmes, CYZ plays a vital role in giving local young people access to opportunities they may otherwise miss.

Speaking about the donation, Ian said: “It’s a privilege to support an organisation that has such a positive impact on the lives of young people in Carlisle. CYZ gives local children a space to belong, explore their interests and feel supported — and we’re proud to play a small part in helping that continue.”

Our conversation with the CYZ team highlighted just how important community backing is in sustaining their wide range of activities. Every donation helps strengthen the services they offer and ensures that young people have regular access to a supportive and inspiring environment.

Hannah Davies added “We are really grateful to Cranstons for their generous donation. Today we support twice as many young people than when we first opened 14 years ago, so support from Carlisle’s business community is needed more than ever.  We are committed to nurturing the next generation of Carlisle’s young people, helping them to navigate the unique opportunities and challenges they are facing. and we are delighted that, together with Cranstons, we can continue to make a real difference.

At Cranstons, we believe in giving back to the community that supports us. We’re proud to continue our partnership with Carlisle Youth Zone and to support the incredible work they do for the next generation. CYZ is one of our four annual charity partners, alongside Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, Tynedale Hospice at Home, and the Great North Air Ambulance, all of whom we support through fundraising, raffle donations, and charity collection days.
