Cranstons supports the Great North Air Ambulance Service

We’ve recently donated £2,000 to the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS), helping to keep this vital service flying high across Cumbria and the North.
Our Cumbrian Food Hall team in Penrith were delighted to welcome GNAAS representative Natasha Banks, who visited to receive the donation and meet with our Food Hall Manager, Hazel Feddon.
GNAAS provides world-class pre-hospital care to people across the North East, North Yorkshire, and Cumbria. Its highly skilled doctors and paramedics bring hospital-level treatment to the scene of emergencies, often in challenging and remote locations where every second counts. From serious road collisions to farming and workplace accidents, their critical care teams save countless lives each year.
Each mission costs thousands of pounds, and the charity receives no government or NHS funding – relying entirely on public donations and fundraising to operate its fleet of helicopters rapid response vehicles. Thanks to community support, GNAAS is able to carry out over 2,000 missions every year, providing an essential lifeline to those living and working in rural areas.
Our Penrith Food Hall Manager, Hazel Feddon, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to support the Great North Air Ambulance Service. Their work is nothing short of incredible, and we’re so proud to contribute to a charity that does so much for people across Cumbria and beyond. Living in a rural county, we all know someone who’s benefited from their service – it’s reassuring to know that this amazing team is always ready to help when it matters most.”
GNAAS is one of four local charities we support through our Community Fund, alongside Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, Carlisle Youth Zone, and Tynedale Hospice at Home. Each year, our Community Fund distributes donations to these organisations in recognition of their vital work within our local communities.
Natasha Banks, CSR & Philanthropy Specialist at GNAAS, said: “We’re thrilled to have the continued support from Cranstons and receive a generous donation from their community fund.
“As a charity we need to raise £9.3m a year to remain operational, so this money will help our critical care team continue to provide life-saving care across the region.”
Through the continued support of our customers, we’re able to give back to the people and charities that make such a difference across our region – ensuring that life-saving services like GNAAS can keep doing their remarkable work for years to come.
