Our new innovative ‘recycle me’ sausage packaging.
We have moved our renowned sausage range into new technology packaging. The new light weight trays are fully recyclable, easy to process by sorting technology and have a low carbon footprint. It’s the latest in a series of eco-friendly changes we are making to reduce our environmental impact.
Martin Jones, Cranstons MD said ‘The very local nature of our business and the fact many of our food items are made with artisan techniques makes us by definition a low food miles, low carbon company. That said, we are keen to further improve our environmental performance across the business’’
Cranstons sell over 5 miles of our famous Cumberland and speciality sausage recipes a week and half of it is pre-packaged, the move to recyclable trays will mean 100,000 fewer trays to landfill each year.
David Law ‘’ We are thrilled with our new trays which combine state of the art packaging technology with affordable production, meaning customer don’t have to pay more. No more nasty polystyrene! Those customers who want to reduce their packaging waste even further have the option to buy sausage loose with minimal packaging from our traditional butchers counters’’
The packaging innovation is the latest in a series of environmental improvements we have made.
Cranstons introduced Photo voltaic panels to their Ullswater Rd butchery centre and kitchens last year and are committed to replacing old refrigeration units and counters with new lower energy use models. We are also championing the local vegetable initiative ‘home grown here’ at our Cumbrian Food Hall in Penrith.
