Turkish Flatbread with Spiced Crispy Beef

Ingredients (serves 4)

For the dough:
200g Greek Style Yoghurt
200g Self-Raising Flour
1 tsp Ground Cumin
1 tsp Cumin Seeds

Filling:
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
500g Steak Mince
½ tsp Cumin Seeds
1 tsp Ground Cumin
½ tsp Ground Chilli
1 tsp Shawarma Spice Blend
2 Tbsp Tomato Puree
½ tsp Salt & Black Pepper
Fresh Mint and Coriander to serve

For the minted yoghurt:
4 Tbsp Greek Yoghurt
1 Tbsp finely chopped Fresh Mint

 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 200c. Lightly oil a baking tray and place in the oven to heat.
  2. Make the dough. In a bowl mix, Self-Raising Flour, Greek Style Yoghurt, Cumin Seeds, Ground Cumin, Salt & Pepper. Bring together into a dough and knead lightly on a floured surface. Using a floured rolling pin, roll into an oval shape, roughly 30x20cm.
  3. Take the hot baking tray out of the oven, place dough onto the tray and drizzle with oil and bake for 10 mins until puffed up and browned around the edges.
  4. While the flatbread is baking, fry off mince, spices & seasoning. Cook over a medium heat for 3-4 mins and add tomato puree. Cook until crispy and caramelised.
  5. Mix Yoghurt, Mint & a drop of Water to loosen. Season.
  6. Take flatbread out of the oven and spread with the mince mix, drizzle with yoghurt, olive oil and sprinkle with Mint, Coriander, Chilli & Cumin.
