Still pinching ourselves! We’ve won a prestigious Cumbria Tourism Award

6th August 2026

We have some really good news to share!

Our Cumbrian Food Hall in Penrith recently won the ‘Producer and Maker Award’ at the 2026 Cumbria Tourism Awards.

The Cumbria Tourism Awards celebrate outstanding businesses and individuals who help make Cumbria one of the UK’s most popular visitor destinations. The Producer and Maker award sponsored by Grasmere Gingerbread recognises businesses helping put local food, drink and produce firmly on the map.

Cranstons was shortlisted for the producer and maker award along with two other brilliant Cumbrian food producers, Penrith Toffee Shop and Pennington’s Spirits, Kendal.  We have the pleasure of stocking the Toffee shop’s iconic toffee and fudge and Pennington’s superb quality spirits in our Food Hall’s so it was lovely to be nominated alongside our business friends.

All 3 businesses hosted judges visits in June with the winner announced at a Black-Tie dinner in Kendal on the 8th July.  Mel Wilson, Cranstons Business Resources Director and Hazel Feddon, Cranstons Cumbrian Food Hall Manager attended the event and were over the moon to be invited up to the stage to receive the Winners Award on behalf of the whole Cranstons Team.

The Cumbria food judges praised the Cumbrian Food Hall’s ‘’Wonderful, warm and knowledgeable staff ‘’ and said ‘’If this place is the visitors’ first stop en route to a Cumbrian holiday or adventure, it is a wonderful advertisement for our county, its people and its produce.’’

Mel Wilson ‘’Cranstons were thrilled just to be named as finalists so to come home with a win was fantastic. This award is a direct reflection of the incredible work our butchers, makers, retail assistants and teams behind the scenes do day in day out, it’s also thanks to the amazing Cumbrian farmers and suppliers we are proud to work with and to our loyal customers who challenge us to innovate and raise the bar continuously.’’

Mel continued ‘’We look forward to continuing to serve up great local food show-casing Cumbria to both locals and visitors in the years ahead and to finding new exciting products to share with you all’
