We’re now looking for an experienced Butcher to join our Production Centre team on Ullswater Road in Penrith – helping us continue our legacy of quality, care, and craftsmanship.
Starting pay from £13.11 per hour, with a clear pay scale that recognises your skills, experience, and responsibilities.
What you’ll do
- Cut, bone and trim whole carcasses and other meat cuts
- Prepare bespoke shop and wholesale customer orders
- Unload materials from Wagon safely and securely, checking for quality control
- Look after meat stock and storage
- Complete any required paperwork in a timely manner

- Butchery experience, either from a qualification or self taught/ on the job experience
- The flexibility to work shifts starting at 5am - we run an 'early'/ 'mid' and 'late' shift guaranteeing a finish before 6pm.

The Role:
Cranstons Quality Butchers are looking for an enthusiastic, food loving and creative Chef to join our small kitchen team at Café Oswalds above our Penrith Foodhall.
This is a rare opportunity for a Chefs Position where you can show your love for food and creative flare using quality local products with; sociable, daytime, straight shifts that doesn’t impact your evenings.
We are looking for talented individuals to join our well oiled machine of 20+ staff delivering great service & quality food in a laid back working environment.
Don’t be fooled, when we say laid back we mean hard graft and fast paced, like any catering job out there (if you know, you know) – but our team will testify to it being rewarding and full of teamwork! Our team will quickly train you up and show you the ropes, we just need you to bring a willingness to learn.
Key Tasks
• Preparing, cooking and presenting food to high standard, using quality ingredients from our onsite Butchers, Deli and Local Suppliers
• Liaising with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure orders are fulfilled and that all stock levels are up to standard
• Following relevant hygiene, health and safety guidelines to a high standard and ensuring allergen procedures are followed
• Working independently on food preparation or as part of a small team, maintaining high standards of service and hygiene to ensure a positive experience for customers
• Serving food promptly in accordance to company procedures and ensuring consistency in quality and portion size
• Working with quality ingredients from the Food Hall below, it’s a fantastic opportunity to put forward new ideas for the main menu and seasonal specials
• Communicating with both the kitchen staff and front of house to ensure excellent customer service
• Carrying out and recording necessary checks and cleaning
Pay
Up to £13.75 dependent on age and experience

• A Foodie - someone that loves working with Food

• IT knowledge – working with our ordering system and Microsoft applications

As a Cranston's Production Operative you will have the opportunity to work for a down to earth business where the managers work alongside staff on the production line.
We pride ourselves in the quality of our local, handmade produce that feeds people throughout Cumbria. If you would like to be part of a busy and well established production team based on Ullswater Road this could be the opportunity for you.
We are looking for production operatives to join our pie department in our production unit.
All positions are entry level with no specific experience required, although if working in our kitchen team, past experience working with food would be desirable.
Key Tasks
• Mix and load ingredients into machines
• Cook to our delicious recipes in a timely manner
• Quality checking products
• Store all food away correctly
• Pack good for shops or wholesale companies
• Work alongside the wider production team in a relaxed environment
• Keep work areas clean and tidy
Pay
£12.66 an hour
