We did it! Our Sirloin Steak is the best in Britain

23rd June 2020

Great news!

Our 21 Day Dry Aged Sirloin Steak has been judged the best in Britain by the Q Guild of Butchers in their annual Smithfield Star Awards.

Cranstons work with trusted local farmers, buying cattle direct from the farm. We buy only beef breeds to ensure maximum quality and prefer the heifers (females) as it is our belief the meat is more tender. Cranstons butchers expertly hang our premium beef cuts for 21 days in a specialist temperature controlled maturation chiller.  Having full control of the temperature, enables us to maximise the natural flavour of the beef.

The judges said of the steak: “[it is] a well butchered and presented steak; succulent, tender with great flavour.”
The 21 Day Dry Aged Sirloin Steak received a diamond award in the Naked Steak Category.

Elsewhere in the competition, Cranstons Rare Roast Beef picked up a 3 star award in the Fresh from the Deli category, earning itself a place as a category finalist.

Other award-winning products, each receiving 1 star, include:
• BBQ Chicken Sausage*
• Topside + Cheddar Meatballs
Cumberland Farmhouse Sausage
• Dinky Pork Pie

Our Managing Director, Philip Cranston, commented: “Naturally, we’re over the moon to pick up a category-leading Diamond award in the face of such strong competition from our fellow butchers nationwide. I dedicate this success to our entire team.”
