Cranstons bagged 4 great taste awards again!

We are pleased to announce 4 of our butchery products have been awarded at this year’s Great Taste Awards!

We picked up a two star award for our Dry Cured Smoked Streaky Bacon and 3 one star awards for Cranstons Dry Cured Smoked and Unsmoked Back Bacon and also our tasty Cheese and Leek Rolls.

The Great Taste Awards are the Oscars of the food and drinks industry and this year, 87 products in Cumbria were awarded stars! We are once again so thrilled to have received such respected honours for our products.

Here are a selection of the judges comments:

Cranstons Dry Cured Steaky Bacon – 2 star gold 

‘Pleasingly thick, cut bacon slices with good fat distribution. The smoke is sound, subtle, well-judged, as also the salinity. The cure has allowed the flavour of pork to come through well, with some persistence on the palate. ‘

Cranstons Cheese and Leek Roll – 1 star gold

‘Golden pasty with light crumb on top – plenty of filling, spilling out of the ends. Cheesy pastry aroma. Light puff pastry with good ratio of filling. Full of flavour, can taste the leeks, potatoes and cheese.’

Cranstons Dry Cured Back Bacon – 1 star gold

‘What a wonderful rich meaty pork aroma your bacon has, with hints of sweetness from the meat and brown sugar, the dark meats are oozing flavour and the fats are generous within the rind which we adore.’

Cranstons Smoked Dry Cured Bacon – 1 star gold

‘A great looking cut with excellent colour and fat distribution – this looks moist and appealing. Sweetness comes through in the aroma and in the taste.’
